It’s the last day of the Oval. We’re sad to see it go, but gratified that after a busy Winterfest event yesterday, they were able to bring it back for one more day of skating.
ICE RATING (from 1-10, with 10 being the best):
10 am – 12 pm: 4
It was slow going and difficult “work” ice. But considering how torn up it was from the Winterfest event, which boasted 4 hours of public skating and trucks/other vehicles transporting items across the ice for setup/tear-down, it’s amazing that it was as good as it was. This is due to the crew, and we salute their hard work.
The outside lane was quite slow and “frosty” from the freezing rain. The inner lane was slightly better but also “slow”. There were streaks of dirt from the various vehicles in spots, but it didn’t seem to trip anyone up too much.
4 pm – 6 pm: 7.5
The ice conditions were much better. The outside of the track was still frosty and slow, but the inside half was faster and much smoother. Again, thanks to the crew for working to get it that way!
See you next season!
