Despite work still being needed, the Oval is opening after only a few days of flooding for sessions today. They are as follows: 4 pm – 6 pm SPEED SKATING 7 pm – 9 pm PUBLIC SKATING
The crew has been busily re-flooding the Oval in preparation to resume skating next weekend. We will post more information as it becomes available.
Due to the torrential rain, winds, and warm temperatures, we had to cancel the Lake Placid North American Challenge, and the Oval will be closed until further notice. As you can see, it mostly resembles a swimming pool. We will post more information as soon as we receive it.
The Oval is closed today to preserve the integrity of the ice for this weekend’s Lake Placid North American Challenge Marathon, and might be tomorrow as well. Please watch this page for more updates!

STILL COLD! ICE RATING (from 1-10 with 10 being the best): 5 The ice was rougher than usual; slight snow covering from wind on the track…it was also very hard ice, “crackling” could be heard while skating. Thanks to my guest reporter Elena who provided this update!
