Day one of the US Long Track Age Group Nationals! ICE RATING (1-10, with 10 being the best): 7.5 – 8.5 The ice was smoother and faster in the morning but due to snow and damp became slower as the day went on. Still good ice and a great competition day! Day 2 tomorrow!

More snow!! ICE RATING (from 1-10 with 10 being the best): 7.5 Much smoother ice tonight, despite the slight snow covering. There was a rough spot still entering the “Legends of the Oval” corner that tripped several skaters, but the rest of the track was surprisingly smooth and faster than yesterday afternoon.

First day of Empire State Winter Games! A chilly evening for racing but everyone seemed to have fun. ICE RATING (from 1-10, with 10 being the best): 8 There was some rough ice on the far inside and outside edges but didn’t really effect the racing; slight snow covering, ice was faster than yesterday though.
